In the past, Google's way of crawling the title of a webpage is very simple, that is, crawling the sentence marked with the <title> tag in the page. For these reasons, Google decided to make changes to the algorithm for crawling titles.
Although Google does not clearly list the specific logic of title crawling after the algorithm is updated, after the efforts of many web page managers, the following points are summarized:
- If the title of the <title> tag is too long, there is a chance that only part of it will be crawled.
- If the title of the <title> tag is too short or blank, some sentences will be grabbed from the H1 (priority) or the text as the title.
- The brand name in the title of the <title> tag has the opportunity to be moved to the beginning or the end, and even if there is no brand name in the <title> tag, it has the opportunity to be added by Google.
- The repeated keywords in the title of the <title> tag are generally only one of them will be crawled.
